Apple Crisp
My oldest daughter absolutely adores apple crisp. Several years ago I found an amazing recipe for this dessert and then lost it. Ever since, I've been looking for another great recipe. This one, from AllRecipes is really good.
Ingredients:
10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup white sugar
1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup butter, melted
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 Tbsp. flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.
Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Notes: This recipe calls for water which sent up a read flag when I read it. I started to look at some of the comments and noticed that a lot of people had a problem with that. So, when I made it I only added 1/4 cup of water. The result? Still too watery. Next time I will try it without water at all. Apples have a high water content so I'm not sure what the water does for the dish. I'll update this post after I try it out.
