Empty Tomb Rolls
Shea had the assignment to teach Family Home Evening the other night in connection with an Activity Days requirement. In addition to that, her leader sent us the recipe for these Empty Tomb rolls that represent the empty tomb found when Jesus was resurrected.
I was a bit skeptical because I surmised that the rolls were going to be more about the symbolism than taste. I was super happy to find that in addition to being empty on the inside which is very symbolic, they were also absolutely delicious! Another plus was that they were easy for Shea to make on her own so that she could feel proud about her participation in the evening.
Ingredients:
1 pkg Frozen rolls, thawed
25 large Marshmallows
1/4 c Melted butter or margarine
6 T Sugar
1 t Cinnamon
Directions:
Press the rolls into flat circles. Place a marshmallow in the center of each roll and pinch the dough around it. Roll the marshmallow-filled rolls into round balls. Brush each ball with butter and sprinkle it with cinnamon and sugar. Let the rolls rise for 30-45 minutes. Then bake them at 350 degrees for 15 minutes until they're golden brown. Just like the tomb on Easter Sunday, these rolls are empty! 12 rolls at one time bake up nicely in a 9x13 rectangular pan.
