Homemade Hot Fudge

The other night I had made homemade vanilla ice cream.  Kelly looked in the fridge and lamented the fact that we were out of hot fudge.  So I ran up to the computer where I was sure I had bookmarked a hot fudge recipe.  Sure enough.  Found this over on Babble.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cups best quality chocolate chips (I used 3/4 cup semisweet and 1/2 cup milk chocolate)
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Directions:
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat cream to almost boiling (about 60 seconds).  Pour in chocolate chips and vanilla.  Allow to rest for 35 seconds, or long enough for the chips to start melting.  Whisk until chocolate is smooth and glossy.

Notes:  My husband, as predicted, would have preferred more milk chocolate and less semisweet but this stuff can be stored in the fridge just like the store-bought kind and brought out and warmed up later.
